Every WWDC, Apple hands out Design Awards to its favorite apps and games of the past year, to "honor excellence in innovation, ingenuity, and technical achievement." Twelve developers picked up prizes this week for their exemplary design work.

The format of the awards was slightly different this year, with awards up for grabs for best app and best game across six new categories: Inclusivity, Delight and Fun, Interaction, Social Impact, Visuals and Graphics, and Innovation. Apple has also revealed the losing finalists for each category, meaning there's an absolute wealth of incredible apps to check out.

Amongst the selection are plenty of apps we've written about here before: the mixed reality game HoloVista, the latest version of CARROT Weather, slick note editor Craft, and Mission to Mars AR. (Tap any of those links to read our reviews.)
